The Cheder

The Kehilla has a long history of a thriving cheder for all children aged from around sevento up to the age for Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We are fortunate to benefit from the presence and teachings of dedicated, enthusiastic and wonderful teachers. This means that we are able to create a supportive and safe environment for each child and allow them to explore their Judaism, ask those sometimes difficult questions and develop their identity in a caring and non-judgmental setting. Not all cheder sessions are ‘classroom’ based – trips are included.

For example the children recently had a trip to Walford Road Synagogue to experience an orthodox service. After this event, our children were able to enjoy lunch together in a local pizza restaurant. Our curriculum is shaped around allowing our children have the best possible learning experiences. We would be very pleased to welcome your son or daughter to join our Cheder classes and to experience the enjoyable learning environment run our experienced teaching staff.
