Shabbat morning service, a call for singers for Shavuot, Khelloh launch

  • Tikkun Leil Shavuot – welcome to Rabbi Leah Jordan – Thursday 28th May 7:30pm onwards

Join us for a Shavuot study session on the theme of Journeys.  Rabbi Leah will lead text study, we will have creative activities and meditation led by our environmental group, and some Shavuot-themed music with our member Rebekka — and then the room will be left open for a chance for us to catch up and eat some cheesecake together.

Rebekka is looking for up to five singers –  and will send out sheet music/lyrics and recordings as preparation for rehearsals. This will require at least 2 rehearsals via Zoom, and the willingness to sing solo, as Zoom does not allow for multiple sound sources simultaneously.  Please contact her via email before Saturday 16th May to participate.

  • Rabbi Danny’s weekly Monday video – this week on Lag b’Omer

You can view the video on the website home page here, where there are also with some recent writings both from him and from Rabbi Leah Jordan.

Our most recent and past divrei torah can be found here and current and past editions of our website can be found here.

This week’s session will be about the curious relationship of Rabbi Yose ben Chalafta and a certain Matron, and a look at ‘God takes nothing from the world unless God puts something back into it’ (Midrash HaGadol). You can email Rabbi Danny to let him know you are coming and he will send you all the texts in advance. This week’s texts are also available here.

  • Shabbat Morning Service – this Saturday 16th May – starting 11am prompt

Join us on Zoom or via Meeting ID 899-668-970 for a morning of prayer, song and reflection – the room will open by 10:30am, and we plan to start our service on time at 11am. You can find the Torah and Haftarah readings here and our selection of pages from Siddur Lev Chadash here. Stay as long as you like after kiddush – the zoom room will remain open for conversation and connection for as long as anyone stays!

Cheder will be with Rabbi Danny in a separate Zoom room from 1pm – email Omar if your 10-13-year-old wants to come and is not yet registered. Cheder continues every Saturday in May at 1pm.

Look out for Havdalah on 23rd May. Our next Shabbat Morning Services will be on 6th and 20th June, when Rabbi Leah Jordan will be with us!

  • Khelloh! Launch today – look out for an additional email for your chance to join in!

Khelloh! is our newest initiative for social closeness while physical distancing and has now been launched! Our volunteers Jackie and Marilyn will pair up any member who would like to take part with another member, to keep in touch on the phone. There is also a new private Khelloh Facebook group for sharing anything of interest and a WhatsApp group available for Kehillah members who would like to be part of Khelloh. Because this is for members only, we are only sending out the link to the form by email to members. If you would like to take part you can also email Ashleigh the administrator who will send you the link.
