Kehillah North London is proud and pleased to announce the appointment of Cantor Tamara Wolfson as its new part-time Spiritual Leader. Tamara will lead Kehillah North London on the next phase of its journey, developing our communal life through prayer, community building, celebration, education, social action and pastoral work. As an added advantage, her specialised knowledge will help us strengthen and develop our existing enthusiasm for participative music in our prayers and celebrations. As an innovative and pioneering community, Kehillah is delighted to be taking this bold and unique step. Cantor Tamara says:

“I am honoured to serve as the next Spiritual Leader with Kehillah North London. I understand that I have big shoes to fill, and I am grateful for the friendship, guidance, and inspiration of Rabbi Shulamit as I begin this exciting journey with Kehillah. I grew up in a suburb of New York City, and was brought up with a passion for progressive Judaism. I graduated from American Jewish University in Los Angeles, CA with a degree in Jewish Studies, and entered cantorial school at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York shortly afterwards. Being a Cantor brings together so many of the things I care deeply about: synagogue life, prayer, education, pastoral care, music, and most importantly: community. Kehillah North London is a strong, vibrant and extraordinary community that I am simply thrilled to become part of! I am very much looking forward to meeting each of you when I move across the pond this summer, and can’t wait to join you in creating kehillah kedosha — holy community — together!”

We are delighted that Tamara will also be working at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue as its new part-time Cantor.

Subject to immigration procedures (which we are currently navigating with the generous help of a leading specialist lawyer) Cantor Tamara will begin work with us in July 2018.
