Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur

On 18th September at 7:30pm start your Yom Kippur at our usual venue. Come experience our Kehillah traditions, which include the beautiful traditional melody for the Kol Nidre prayer.

The following day at the New Unity Chapel in Newington Green, we have a full day of Yom Kippur services and children’s activities, including lunch for those too young to fast. Our morning services starts at 10:30am followed by our Mussaf service from 1:30pm. We have afternoon activities and study sessions from 3:30pm. Our Yizkor Memorial Service starts at 6:30pm and our closing Neilah Service begins at 7pm followed by Havdalah and breaking of the fast just before 8pm. Please do bring honey cake or other food to share and break the fast with.

For our Yom Kippur afternoon activities, Cantor Tamara will be leading a “bring-share-learn-and-listen” session about the power of music, the important balance between old and new, and the melodies that help us feel we’ve arrived at our spiritual home. Feel free to think of an example of a favourite prayer melody that is particularly meaningful for you and, if you feel comfortable, bring your voice and share your song. As we are not in our usual space for Yom Kippur, please be aware that the space can get cold so please bring blankets and cushions to make the space more comfortable. There will also be Yoga and Meditation sessions on offer in the afternoon, so if you have yoga mats please bring these too.
